How frame sizes work
We always build a frame from the inside out, starting with your art.
Your art
The size of the artwork itself: the edge of the paper or canvas. This is the measurement we need from you.
The mount (optional)
A card border around your art. Its opening is cut a few millimetres smaller than your art so it overlaps the edges. Its width adds to the size all the way round.
The frame
The wooden moulding goes around everything and adds its own width. We'll tell you the finished outside size in your quote.
Good to know: the size on our frame pages is the size of the art that goes inside. So an A3 frame holds A3 art. A2 art is twice the size of A3, so it needs an A2 frame.
